Tokun reminder

April Fool yesterday. Google launched Pokémon hunt. And I got pranked by LJ who put up a serious face and told me that my pants was torn during badminton yesterday. I really believed her, only to be laughed at a second later. That girl ah....

Last Sunday I parked my car in Tokun external parking area. My usual practice is to switch off hp and leave it in car while keeping my IC and license and money enough for post-hike breakfast in my pocket. Just when I was about to get off my car and closed the door, my hp beeped signaling an SMS. Being half inside the car, I kneeled on my cushion seat and reached across my car drawer to check the SMS and keep it back inside before heading off to meet up with my friend.

Imagine my confusion when I went back to my car after hiking, asking myself... "Did I leave my car window open?" Because I have never done so before. Then it came to my realization that someone broke into my car by breaking the passenger window and stole my hp. My Touch and Go card is still there. So apparently I was being marked already.

My mistake. Mom had warned me umpteenth times about the safety there because she had read about it in newspaper several times already. There goes my 2 weeks old Samsung Galaxy Note2. Poor sister! She sold me the hp because she couldn't bear to part with the Note2. She got herself a Note3 since her Digi contract had expired. Oh, well. Lesson learnt! So I scrambled to get my car window replaced and one short change car tint.

Had been wanting to change the tint but kept on delaying it since I want to properly budget my expenses. But now that I was already in the car workshop area, might as well do just that. While waiting for about 4.5 hours there, I was reading a book given by CWK. Very interesting book, talking about a Chinese being brought up in Western country. The author did quite a lot of research into the religion and cultural difference between these two sides of the world.

Still halfway reading through it. Will share about it if I can summarized it into simple words later. I came across the 8 simple rules of Buddhism and saw it in FB again today, which triggered me to blog today...

Right view.
Right intention.
Right speech.
Right action.
Right livelihood.
Right effort.
Right mindfulness.
Right concentration.

I was actually touched by the author's view that religion doesn't distinguish one from another. Why should there be exclusion of belief? Why can't one believe in Islam, Christian, Buddhism and Hinduism at the same time? The important thing is to pick the right thing to do and learn from each other. It really opened up my mind while reading this book.

But you really need to focus on the book so I was lucky to have picked that book to bring along during the 4.5 hours wait at the workshop. One event leads to another. Things look brighter when you don't avoid any problem but vow to solve it instead. Worrying without action indeed wastes time, something which I always do. So perhaps it is Law of Attraction which leads to this event, in order to allow to take action rather than delaying it. Thank you!

The Charles Schulz Philosophy

Got this from Bee Hoon and I loved it... Hope you will like it too...

The Charles Schulz Philosophy
(This is marvelous!! Scroll thru slowly and read carefully to receive and enjoy full effect)

The following is the philosophy of Charles Schulz, the creator of the 'Peanuts' comic strip.

You don't have to actually answer the questions. Just ponder on them.

Just read the e-mail straight through, and you'll get the point.

1. Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

2.. Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

3.. Name the last five winners of the Miss America pageant.

4.. Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.

5.. Name the last half dozen Academy Award winners for best actor and actress.

6.. Name the last decade's worth of World Series winners.

How did you do?

The point is, none of us remember the headliners of yesterday.

These are no second-rate achievers.

They are the best in their fields.

But the applause dies ...

Awards tarnish ...

Achievements are forgotten.

Accolades and certificates are buried with their owners.

Here's another quiz. See how you do on this one:

1. List a few teachers who aided your journey through school.

2.. Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

3.. Name five people who have taught you something worthwhile.

4.. Think of a few people who have made you feel appreciated and special.

5.. Think of five people you enjoy spending time with

Easier?

The lesson:

The people who make a difference in your life are not the ones with the
most credentials, the most money ... or the most awards.

They simply are the ones who care the most

Pass this on to those people who have either made a difference in your life,
or whom you keep close in your heart.

"Be Yourself. Everyone Else Is Taken!"

Break Up

I wrote once about my break up (here), more like a joking post to tone down my frustration after having done something stupid. It made me realized that I used to have so much fun. That I used to be much more positive. Been getting more and more serious lately. Guess people change over time eh?

My recent actual break up really brought me to a realization. It lasted 3 days and I had never expect it to be so peaceful. I felt light and relaxed on day 1 because I felt that I had less one commitment. Not a burden but a commitment, where you willingly dedicate your time, effort and attention to.

I chose that path because I thought I am not suited to have a corn or paddy. As in I might be better off being single due to my nature. Deep down inside, I had to tell myself to stay firm despite my heart bleeding. I was doing good for Day 1 and thought I will be fine. However the soft-hearted me couldn't bear to see his hurtful expression and the flower he gave me did soften my hardened heart slightly.

An irony huh? The first time I received his flower was during a break up. He didn't see that coming. He booked the flower on Thurs night and I broke the news to him on Fri. And since he had already ordered the flower, I got the flower on Sat when we met up. Felt awkward though. Not the kind of situation where you want to present flower to your loved one. We meet up as a sign of respect to mark the end of our relationship. Doing it over Whatsapp message would have felt like a disrespect.

Got furious with him for drinking again, having the so called "Russian juice" a.k.a. vodka for lunch, dinner and supper. That's the thing with me. For God's sake, after a break up, the ex-es should not care for each other anymore. But I couldn't bear the thought that I broke his heart. And hence, after another confrontational discussion (more like probing and spilling everything out), we agreed to give it another try and concluded if there ever happened to be another break up, it is best that we don't keep in touch at all.

So here I am, feeling very much loved again as both of us had spilled our thoughts out and understand each other more. We are both trying to improve each other. I never thought that I will share this out in my blog, but why not? This is where I share out my feelings. Lesson learnt? Communication. Respect. Consideration. Fingers crossed that it will work.

Gandhi's Wit

This email forwarded by my lovely friend, Indika is so epic. Especially the final part. I love this so much. Hope it humours anyone who reads it as well...

When Gandhiji was studying law at the University College of London, there was a professor,  whose last name was Peters, who felt animosity for Gandhiji, and because Gandhi never lowered his head towards him, their "arguments" were very common.

One day, Mr. Peters was having lunch at the dining room of the University and Gandhiji came along with his tray and sat next to the professor. The professor, in his arrogance, said,
"Mr Gandhi: you do not understand... a pig and a bird do not sit together to eat ",
 to which Gandhiji replies,
"You do not worry professor, I'll fly away ",
and he went and sat at another table.

Mr. Peters, green of rage, decides to take revenge on the next test, but Gandhiji responds brilliantly to all questions. Then, Mr. Peters asked him the following question,
"Mr Gandhi, if you are walking down the street and find a package and within it there is a bag of wisdom and another bag with a lot of money; which one will you take?"
Without hesitating, Gandhiji responded,
"The one with the money, of course".
Mr. Peters, smiling, said,
"If I'm in your place, I   would have taken the wisdom.
"Each one takes what one doesn't have",
responded Gandhiji indifferently.

Mr. Peters, already hysteric, writes on the exam sheet the word "idiot" and gives it to Gandhiji. Gandhiji takes the exam sheet and sits down. A few minutes later, Gandhiji goes to the professor and says,
"Mr. Peters, you signed the sheet, but you did not give me the grade."

Quotes of My Feeling

I like this camera quote very much...
Take another shot, hmm...

More often than not, we stay put in our current situation because of 3 reasons:
a) happy with current situation
b) scared to try out new environment
c) too comfortable in current position

I am more towards (b).
Been thinking for awhile now,
but I have just switched job for half a year and already I have this feeling.
Abnormal I will say, haha!
Go with the flow. See what else I can do.

And this?
Have to admit that this is so so true.
And it is quote annoying when you are displaying so much different emotions
yet he never realized it. Argh!!!!

But once you got used to it, you will tell yourself:
Just be yourself and communicate openly.

He is not the worm in your stomach
so blurt out whatever is in your mind if you want to be heard.
To expect him to know what you want is a total waste of energy and time.

Corporate Language

Came across this in Facebook.

Something To Laugh About

Silver surfers (in the golden age era) sometimes have trouble with their computers. Here is an example from a silver surfer...

I had a problem yesterday, so I called Eric, the 11 years old next door, whose bedroom looks like Mission Control and asked him to come over.

Eric clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem. As he was walking away, I called after him, "So, what's wrong?"

He replied,"It was an ID ten T error."

I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless inquired, "An ID ten T error? What's that? In case I need to fix it again."

Eric grinned... "Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?"

"No," I replied.

"Write it down," he said, "and I think you'll figure it out."

So I wrote down: ID10T...
I used to like Eric, that little shit head.

Funny isn't it? I like it.

Charity Time!

I have set aside RM50 monthly for donation purpose. Be it for those who appeared on the newspaper, or buying foodstuff for the orphanage or mentally retarded place or old folks home. And since my company produces oat flakes (Captain Oats brand), it is even easier to arrange a donation. Just asking if everyone would like to chip in RM10.40 for two packs of oats and wah lah... I get 7 cartons ready for donation. Well of course some were generous enough to donate a carton.

So just last weekend, we went to a mentally retarded kids' centre and also an old folks home. If I remember correctly, donations to the old folks home are entitled to tax exemption. I didn't snap much pictures though. Surprisingly when I went there to enquire on the items they require for donations, some of it haven't came across my mind before:

Body shampoo
Dishwashing liquid
Pampers

So true ya. The usual stuff that came across my mind would be rice, noodles, cocoa powder, milk, oats flakes etc. Well, I learnt new things again. Just trying to do our part. It doesn't mean that when we have plenty to spare only we think of donating. I feel that if currently we are living comfortably with basic amenities, why not we help others in need.

We feel good by doing that. Our contributions might not be big but the sincerity counts, I believe. Especially if we help to spread the news via words of mouth. Malaysians are generous lots. Besides, even if they don't do charitable donations, their money will be spent on gadgets and whatnot. So rather than wasting the money down the drain, why not help others in need?
