Charity Time!

I have set aside RM50 monthly for donation purpose. Be it for those who appeared on the newspaper, or buying foodstuff for the orphanage or mentally retarded place or old folks home. And since my company produces oat flakes (Captain Oats brand), it is even easier to arrange a donation. Just asking if everyone would like to chip in RM10.40 for two packs of oats and wah lah... I get 7 cartons ready for donation. Well of course some were generous enough to donate a carton.

So just last weekend, we went to a mentally retarded kids' centre and also an old folks home. If I remember correctly, donations to the old folks home are entitled to tax exemption. I didn't snap much pictures though. Surprisingly when I went there to enquire on the items they require for donations, some of it haven't came across my mind before:

Body shampoo
Dishwashing liquid
Pampers

So true ya. The usual stuff that came across my mind would be rice, noodles, cocoa powder, milk, oats flakes etc. Well, I learnt new things again. Just trying to do our part. It doesn't mean that when we have plenty to spare only we think of donating. I feel that if currently we are living comfortably with basic amenities, why not we help others in need.

We feel good by doing that. Our contributions might not be big but the sincerity counts, I believe. Especially if we help to spread the news via words of mouth. Malaysians are generous lots. Besides, even if they don't do charitable donations, their money will be spent on gadgets and whatnot. So rather than wasting the money down the drain, why not help others in need?
