Tang Yuan

Winter Solstice or DongZhi.
Dramatic a bit.
Away from home.
My favorite tang yuan.

Made by me 100%.
Helped by Google research.

Patiently rounding the rice balls.
Waiting to be cooked.

Got this idea from Internet.
Green color comes from pandan leaves.
Natural coloring and flavoring.

Badminton

I finally found badminton kaki.
I used to play with him in Kulim.
We played almost every Sunday in Cyberjaya.

About 35 minutes to get there.
Courts here are in good condition and cheap.
Compared to other parts of KL.

Still Penang's court rental fee is way cheaper.
It is RM17/hour here vs RM10/hour in Penang.
The flooring here is rubberised and in a very good condition.

This brand of shuttlecock is very good.
RM58 only.
But this is from a shop which sells very cheap.
Guess other place would have sold it at around RM65.
Protech.

Endorsed by Hafiz Hashim.
Our All England champion.
Now I longer heard of his name anymore.

Colleague found out about this new place.
In Seri Kembangan.
Very not cheap.

RM20/hour on weekday alone.
Now I know why my friends prefer Cyberjaya though it is far.
We colleagues are going to play starting in January.
Can't wait.

We went to this restaurant after badminton on Sunday.
Good food.
Nearby Taman Equine.

First time joining them for dinner.
Should be late dinner a.k.a supper.
Really good food.

They had quite a big crowd.
We went there late, around 9pm.
And already, we need to wait for quite some time.
If we went there earlier, I wonder how long we need to wait to get the food.

But can't always join them.
Felt sinful to have such a heavy dinner after badminton.
At least not until I really did all the exercises needed.

I miss yoga.
Yoga in KL is not cheap at all.
Friend said it is more worthy to just sign up for gym.

You get the gym.
And all the classes offered.
Yoga, zumba, aerobic, Pilates etc.

Will search after Jan 2015.
Else just do badminton and jogging.
And practice hatha yoga and AKY at home.

Pheo, please buck up!
You had been in comfort zone for too long.
Procrastinating every chance you had.

2015.
Jia you!

Meaningful Name

During our IGN Meeting in Coimbatore,
we get this as our souvenir.
Not something I will buy but I like it a lot.

A painting depicting the meaning of our name.
My name is Tan Kweng Pheo.
But since I use my initial, it became Kweng Pheo Tan instead.

And my Indian colleague who prepared this thought my initial is Kweng.
Not bad.
Next time, I can consider to ask people to call me Kweng.

He kept on asking me what is the meaning of my name.
Because most Indians have a meaning to their name.
Hence, they thought others would be too.

My Chinese name might have meaning.
I thought my Chinese name characters are towards including
the elements which I lack in my life.

Kweng...
A Bright Ray of Virtuous Light.
I like this...

Company Xmas Dinner In Top Hat Restaurant, KL

My second X-mas dinner with company.
First time was with FOM.
I miss the colleagues there.

The colleagues here are sweet and nice as well.
But perhaps we were not as close, since I am still new.

The theme is black and red.
Seems everyone follows the dress code :)

We had it in Top hat Restaurant, in Jalan Stonor, KL.
We had the whole place to ourselves.
Starter and main course is good.
The only exception is the dessert.

We had fun with the karaoke session.
I didn't sing.
I am never the sporting type.

But towards I did sway right and left a bit.
A.k.a. dance.
Being pushed into the crowd.

It was fun actually.
Just need to be open so that won't feel awkward.
I need to work towards to that.

:)

Couples Watch

Bought this from Bangalore airport.
Colleague had a meal in the flight and there was this scratch coupon.
Rs999 for this couple watch.
Swiss Light brand.

Never heard of it but cheap enough.
Only about RM55.
I wore mine once after I sent to watch shop to cut the strap short.

But now only got one watch left.
I lost my watch.
Couldn't recall where could it possibly be.
No more couple watch
 :(

Weight Maintained

Yuhoo!
Went to BP Diagnostic Lab for blood test.
Just my annual thingy.

Despite the lack of exercise,
I managed to keep my weight.
Flabby fleshes are there...
But at least weight is maintained :)

Min Kee Wanton Noodle Restaurant in Happy Garden

Just a walking distance from the place I stayed.
Though I drove here.

Noodles and sauce is average.
But the char siew and wantons are heavenly!

Even my colleagues knew about this place.
She sometimes drove that far from office to here for lunch.

Gathering with KL Turtles

Niu came back from Hong Kong.
Finally managed to meet her.
She got married to Hong Kong.
Still the ever tidy, bubbly and cheerful Niu.
Love her energy.

My first trip to Setia Walk in Puchong.
Very happening.
Thanks to Waze, I am able to meet them there.
Then we went for supper.

Nasi lemak in Sea Park in SS2, Petaling Jaya.
Very long rows of tables.
Reminds me of Murni SS2.
At such a late hour, there were still so many people around.
KL life!

My X-mas Sock

We have a Christmas Committee.
They had decided to put an item in our socks every week.
It is quite fun.
Waiting for surprises.

This is my first cord wrapper.
A cat holding the cord together.
Cute.

This brings me back to my memory lane.
The chewy bubble gum we used to have when young.
I love this surprise.

I waste no time in reliving my childhood memories.
Been awhile I didn't try this.
The sweet old days.

This is my X-mas sock.
Everyone has one.
There are other food items in it.
I didn't snap earlier on.

Our real X-mas tree.
Beautifully decorated especially when the light shines at night.
It is withering, hence the brownish colour.

Guess what?
This is the view we get to see in our office.
We have glass panel surrounding this spa-like garden.

Small garden,
but enough to bring peace and calm to those looking at it.
I was mesmerised by this the first time I came here for interview.

Wish me luck to adapt fast to the culture,
and the work demand.
I am still far behind.

X-mas treat for my car

After such a long procrastination,
I had decided to send my car in for repair.

Thinking that it will cost me around RM600++ for repair.
That's what they told Julie for initial diagnosis few weeks back.
For front shock absorbers and mounting.

Imagine my shock when the bill comes to almost RM1500.
There is service charge for certain items as well.
Because this chain has 13 branches, hence subjected to service charge.
Next time I am gonna check for no service charge car service centre.

Julie sent me to work before leaving my car in the workshop.
When the foreman called, he informed me of the items:

front and back shock absorbers
wheel bearing
brake pump
brake fluid
wheel balancing and alignment

Total will be roughly RM1100.
Not inclusive of labour charge yet.
I was at work that time.
Totally out of focus at work.

Just when I thought all is done,
the foreman called again and informed that I need to change one more:

labour to pump front and rear chamber for all 4 wheels

Additional RM300.
Hence, total bill of RM1470.40.
2008 Saga BLM.
I bought it second-hand in 2010.

It will be 7 years old in Mar 2015.
Please treat me well, my dear car :)

Hair

Hair had been falling quite a lot lately.
Whenever I simply brushed through my hair lightly with just fingers,
there will definitely be few hairs falling, without fail.

Not to mention the time when I just washed my hair.
Each time picking up my hair in the bathroom,
it is a whole chunk of hair.

Been worried too.
Will visit the hair treatment centre again when I go back to Kulim this Christmas.
Money spending time again.

To be honest, if I eat well and wash hair regularly,
should be able to mitigate this problem.

Aesop

Julie introduced me to this brand of facial cleanser.
Called Aesop Fabulous Facial Cleanser.
Gonna finish up my existing one before start to use this.
Gel form in glass bottle.
Hopefully the glass bottle is able to withstand the harsh throwing of luggage in plane.

Aesop...
The name sounds so elegant to me.
At the same time, it sounds Malaysian to me.
Usop... Yusop...
Australian brand.

That's the good thing about having an air stewardess as housemate.
I asked her to buy one for me to try.
She bought it as my Christmas and birthday present instead.
Really an angel to me.
Thank you God for making my life in KL easier...

Universal adapter

Time to get a universal adapter.
Got this from night markekt at RM18.
Considered very cheap as the price I usually see is around Rm40.

Just hope this will last me forever.
And won't blow up.
Touch wood!

Favorite mamak food

Lama tak makan mamak style food.
My favorite thosai.
Nicely done.
Crisp.

Somehow the roti canai here is good.
Not oily.
Just the nice amount of crispiness and bite.

My Shoe Love Story

Housemate greeted me with:
KP, I have a bad news for you.

Happened that the dog had chewed on one side of my sandal.
Gosh, need to buy new one.

After searching high and low
(with reasonable price and not the toe binding style),
I finally found this in the night market.
Costs me RM20.

Bought this as well.
Costs me Rm29.
Very reasonably priced.
My working shoe looked so old-fashioned.
And some had already peeled and opened mouth.

Bye bye old shoes,
Hello new shoes...

What a blunder

Funny.
I had only been 3 weeks away in India.
And I had forgotten the most basic stuff of my car.

I was wondering how come the fuel bar is always stagnant at 3 bars.
It never went down.
I thought something was wrong with the meter.

Out of a sudden, I got the eureka moment!
I had been looking at the wrong side of meter.
I was looking at the radiator bar meter on the right.
Instead of the fuel bar meter on the left.

Such a blur person I am!
OMG!

Farewell Message for FOM

LJ forwarded me this.
I wrote this before I left.
With the bubble and colour tone, it look cool right?

I have so many names that people call me by.
Ah Tan... by primary and secondary classmates.
Jiong Ping... by my uni-mates.
Ah Pheo... by my family and some uni-mates.
Ms Tan... by JBFM Prai colleagues and counterparts.
KP... by FOM and Novozymes colleagues.

Penang Road Teochew Cendol

Full house.
Didn't know the franchise is so successfull here, in KL.
There were a few franchises opened in Penang, which is almost empty.

Well done, Penang!

Happy Birthday To Dear

Happy birthday to dear!
Since I can't be there to celebrate his birthday with him,
(he was in Shanghai and I was in KL)
I decided to send him a surprise in Penang.

Managed to find someone who do cake delivery to dear's house during weekend.
Early surprise before his birthday.
Glad that he was surprised and he liked it.
Forgot to ask him how does it taste like.

Not cheap because of the fondants i think.
But worth it.
It is the intention that counts.

Still Messy

This was my laundry after I was back from India.
Plenty to wash and fold and keep.
Fingers crossed I can get this done.

Two weeks had passed and it is still like this.
Only today I managed to kick my lazy butt to start tidying up my stuff.
I did it today :)

Hokkaido Cake and Milky Fish Head Bihun

Went to Taman Desa for fish head noodles in Woo Pin restaurant.
Seemed to be well known amongst the locals.
Milky fish head bihun.
I find it so so only.

Hokkaido cake.
Not sure if this is being created in Hokkaido.
But Julie said her Japanese friend haven't heard of this before.

Looks good.
RM9 for 3 pieces.

It is very light, soft and fluffy.
The cream is wonderful.
Not too thick, not too sweet.
Just nicely done to my liking.

My Set Up in KL

My set up in KL.
Many stuff.
Lazy to tidy up.

Up till today, it is almost similar to this.
Shame shame!

Mask in India

Pamper myself in India.
Dry skin.
Cool weather in Bangalore.
Air conditioning in office.

Smile!

Food

What I had in India?
Went to Cafe Infinito in Inorbit Mall.
That's the only place I had dinner (apart from Marriot) outside of my hotel.

Breads as starters.
Taken with mustard sauce or vinegar.

Grilled fish.
Very nicely presented on top of mashed potato.

Caesar salad.
Well dressed with the dressing.

Not convenient to go out eat in the area I stayed.
So most of the time, I ordered room service.
Vegetable salad with chicken slices.
Tastes good but you can see how big portion this is.
This should be main course instead of appetizer.

Fruit platter.
I must say that I have good digestion in India everyday.
Usually I have constipation when I am travelling.

Different presentation of fruit platter.

Grilled chicken with mushroom sauce.
Salty dao~~~~

My favorite meal.
Fried rice.
That's the only one which I'd ordered repeatedly.
Very big portion.

Vegetable burger was too salty to my liking.
I have concluded that I shouldn't order soup.
Very thin. Almost similar to water.
Papaya juice is good but very thick, hence can't finish all.

This is the lunch I had in office.
Very big portion and cheap.
50 Rupees only. ~RM2.50.

The cookies cut during training.
Just for fun.

I had this with LJ before I go KL.
Char Koay Teow in BM.
Recommended!
