Did something very sweet and simple just now. Halfway working in the morning, suddenly remembered it is mom’s birthday today. Was supposed to go for a class today at 7.30pm. I actually purposely stayed back late at lab so that my timing was just nice to go to the class.
Little did I know that later on, I decided to skip the class as I wasn’t really feeling well (must be due to dehydration, had a very peppery McD Chicken Prosperity Burger on Sunday night, immediately kena! Don’t know if only McD Kulim produced that kind of Prosperity Burger or other outlets are also the same. But one thing for sure is, I will not order that anymore. I’d better stick to my Fish Fillet or McChicken).
So I drove to get two slices of Secret Recipe cakes, i.e. Chocolate Banana for my mom and White Chocolate Macadamia for my aunt (a token of appreciation for her since she helped me a lot). When reached home, mom asked what was the red box containing. I replied casually: “Cake. Today is ur birthday ma.” Guess what? Mom too forgot it’s her birthday today. Haha, can’t blame her. We usually don’t celebrate birthdays at home anyway.
I called my little nephew and niece and they excitedly ran to the kitchen. My mom sat there on the dining table with the Chocolate Banana in front of her. The two devils were actually eyeing the cake and were excited to clap along while singing birthday song. It was a heart-warming moment.
Everything seemed so simple yet the ~feel~, the timing, everything…seemed so perfect! Everyone gave mom a peck on the cheek and fed mom with the cake. Mom did the same for us. Bear in mind that we are not really an affectionate family where we can simply utter “I love u” and stuff like that. But I guess there is always a first time for everything!
It’s a great way to end the day. Never mind about the few sneezes on and off!
